The scientific journal of the University, SPRINT (Sports Research International) is an open-access journal published by the AKJournals and a periodical of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. SPRINT is aiming to provide an international publication forum for new research findings and ideas in any field of sports science.
SPRINT aims to emphasize that sport-sciences are multidisciplinary. Sport is unique, since it is “exercised” only by humans. Although some elements of sport and exercise can be studied in animal experiments, but the human aspects of psychology, pedagogy and social-economy. and the mechanisms underlying these aspects are not present. We would like to emphasize that sport (competitive or leisure) plays an increasingly important role in society and in the maintenance of healthy lifestyle of individuals. The research is conducted in every field of sport, on every level of science: from molecules to humans, including the limits of mental and physical achievements of human, technical advancements, equipment, managements, business, economy, and so on. The results can be used to advance the physical and mental health, not only for those who are involved in sports, but for all in the society, such as sedentary or diseased people.
SPRINT is considering the following types of manuscripts for publications: Original Research Papers, Short Communications, Case Reports, and Review Papers.
SPRINT is published on-line, like many other prestigious scientific journals, thus it will be available on the internet and accessible for all readers promoting the dissemination of knowledge and scientific research in sports sciences.
Editor-in-chief: Prof. Akos Koller, Chairman of the Scientific Council at the Hungarian University of Sports Science. His main research areas include microcirculation, cardiovascular diseases and endothelial function and dysfunction and exercise physiology. He received several Awards:
- Malpighi Award / European Society for Microcirculation, 2018
- Eugene M. Landis Research Award / American Microcirculatory Society, 2023
- C.J. Wiggers Award of the Cardiovascular Section of the American Physiological Society, 2025
Associate editors:
- Hajnalka Vágó, Heart and Vascular Center, Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary
- Tibor Hortobágyi, Department of Kinesiology, Hungarian University of Sports Science, Budapest, Hungary and University Medical Center Groningen, Groningen, NL
- Gábor Géczi, Institute of Economics and Social Sciences, Hungarian University of Sports Science, Budapest, Hungary
The Editorial Board consists of well-known national and international researchers, and more members are expected to join us in the future. We hope that Editorial Board members will contribute by sending manuscripts regarding their original research or review articles. Every manuscript sent to the Journal is reviewed by two independent peer reviewers, primarily by the members of the Editorial Board, thus ensuring the high quality of the papers and of the journal.
On behalf of the editorial board and myself I am asking for your help in this great endeavour - by sending manuscripts and contribute to the review process of SPRINT - to achieve this noble aim.
