Recalling the previous series of events of the Hungarian University of Sports Science, the staff, teachers and students, sports associations and experts from the State Secretariat for Sport participated in a networking breakfast on November 28, 2023.
The event was organized with the support of the European Union within the framework of the Jean Monnet program, which encourages education and research in the field of European integration studies, at our university, under the leadership of Associate Professor Dr. Péter Farkas.
During the lectures held in the Rome Hall, EU sports policy issues were discussed over coffee, tea, salty and sweet snacks. Following the introductory thoughts of Dr. Péter Farkas, a lecture on the history of ideas on the development of European integration was given by Dr. Katalin Szikora, retired head of the Department of Social Sciences. Current issues could not be avoided either, as the integration process of the EU is a leading topic for many with good reason.
After that, in addition to the presentation of the Jean Monnet modules and of the university’s EU-funded projects, Dr. Judit Farkas compared the European dimensions of sport and the usual division logic in the Hungarian sports system. It was stated that within the framework of the three-year project, the EU supports not only the development of courses offered in the field of European Union and sport, EU integration studies, but also the implementation of ideas such as the creation of a thematic corner in the University Library, the inclusion of lectures and research on the EU and physical education, sports in the framework of the talent care extra-curricular programme for HUSS students.
The continuation will not be left behind, because the project leader has undertaken several such events in the application material, which, following the success of the first working breakfast, will be another highly anticipated event in the spring of 2024.
