Zsuzsanna Terbe says the Chess Olympiad was a great experience

Chess player Zsuzsanna Terbe, who graduated at the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF), remained unbeaten at the 2024 Budapest Chess Olympiad.

Sunday saw the end of the 45th Chess Olympiad held in the BOK Sports Hall in Budapest.

Some students of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF) also participated in the event: the Terbe twins, Zsuzsanna and Julianna in the women’s competition, Ádám Kozák in the men's competition and Zoltán Medvegy, the captain of the Hungarian B-team. This time, we spoke to Zsuzsanna Terbe, who competed in her first chess Olympiad, and finished undefeated in the prestigious tournament.

"I played eight games, my goal was to keep my unbeaten record. I'm happy that I managed to reach it by wining and drawing four games, respectively, even though it was not always easy", said the 27-year-old chess player, who is studying Sports Management at the TF and has yet to complete her thesis. “It was the first time I competed in a Chess Olympiad ,and it was a great experience for me. Many people came out to cheer me on, fans asked for my autograph and photo, the atmosphere was great, and I met some great players."

Regarding her future plans, she said the following.

"My twin sister Juli and I own a chess school, I coach, and I also compete in the clubs MTK and TFSE, so there's always something to do. Anyway, it's good to relax for a few days. The Chess Olympiad ended on Sunday, I practically slept the whole day on Monday, it's been a tiring time."
