Ninety students took part in the 9th PhD Symposium in Sports Science, organised by the Doctoral School of the Hungarian University of Sports Science (TF). The event was held between 26 and 27 June.
Following the opening speech held by Prof. Dr Zsolt Radák, Head of the Doctoral School, the PhD Outstanding Teacher Award was presented to Dr Csaba Nyakas, professor emeritus. The title was awarded this year by the decision of the Doctoral Council.
The symposium featured a special session, as part of an official event of the university's New National Excellence Programme, with presentations by four scholarship holders of the 2023/2024 academic year:
Mozaffaritabar Soroosh (supervisor: Professor Zsolt Radák): Comparison of the Effects of Voluntary Physical activity on Mitochondrial Function and Lipid breakdown markers in the liver of aged rats with different running capacities
Bence Kelemen (supervisor: Professor László Tóth): Cross-sectional study of training methods in Hungarian distance running
Renátó Tóth (supervisor: Professor László Tóth): Validation of the irrational performance beliefs inventory in Hungarian
Zhou Lei (supervisor: Professor Zsolt Radák): Long-Term Iron Supplementation Combined with Vitamin B6 Enhances Maximal Oxygen Uptake (VO2 max) and Promotes Skeletal Muscle-Specific Mitochondrial Biogenesis in Rats
This was followed by student presentations on the topics and conference presentations in parallel sessions.
Students who had not yet passed the complex exam could choose to present their topic plan in the topic session or their results in the conference session. Students who had passed the complex examination had to present their results in the conference session. A total of 42 papers were presented, 17 of which were presented in the conference sessions.

In each section, one speaker was awarded a book voucher for an outstanding presentation or work, based on the recommendation of the Section Chair.
