Mr. László Szalma is Associate university professor, the Vice-Dean of the Faculty responsible for sport affairs since July 2011. He is the Chair of the Athletics Department since 2006.

He is a former elite athlete, he is two-times European indoors champion, he won also two silver and one bronze medal at the European Championships in long jump. His best result at world championships in a fourth place, at the Olympics he was fourth and sixth and he finished third at a World Cup. He is the Hungarian record holder since 1985 and the indoor record holder since 1986. He is eleven-times Hungarian champion, 71-times member of the Hungarian national team, three-times member of the European team, he was three-times the Athlete of the Year.

In our faculty he teaches the following subjects since 1993: the basics of athletics, the disciplines of athletics, the theory and teaching methodology of athletics and the basics of golf.

In 2007 he was qualified as Teaching Pro coach in golf. He is active in coaching golf and athletics, his athletes are Hungarian champions, Olympic participants. He is member of the presidency in the Hungarian Athletics Federation. He is the Chair of the education committee of the Professional Golf Association of Hungary. He is also member of the presidency of this organisation.

He often publishes articles in Hungarian and foreign journals and takes part in conferences.  His students are successful in Hungarian and international scientific competitions.
